What men’s health supplements do you take? I hope you know that not all supplements are good for you. In fact some of them can be downright dangerous.
The Good
I believe that everybody needs multivitamin and multimineral supplements. The sad truth is that our diet, over the years, has degenerated so much that we just do not get enough of the essential vitamins and minerals from our diet any longer. That is why I believe it is important to include multivitamin and multimineral supplements as part of your diet.
There are other supplements like Omega 3 and other fish oils that are vital to the functioning of the brain as well as cardiovascular well being, so I would add these to the list of good supplements.
Unfortunately, there’s a lot of conflicting advice about what quantities of each vitamin and mineral that the body needs. I don’t want to add to the controversy, so my recommendation is start with the RDA (recommended daily allowance). My logic is that something is better than nothing.
Let’s leave the posturing and debating to those that have the time and motivation to do so.
The Bad
Beyond the men’s health supplements that I have already mentioned, there are many more supplements that one can take. In fact I am sure that there are enough different men’s health supplements to fill an entire Wal Mart store. That in itself is a sad sign of the times we live in.
What happened to the days when we could get all the vitamins and minerals that we needed from our diet of natural foods?
The problem is that there are a lot of supplements that are marketed by vendors and magazines that are not really essential. I am not going to mention any names, but when you start hearing of supplements that enhance this function, and preserve that organ… just be aware that you are skating on thin ice.
The best advice I have for you is do not believe the hype. The greatest thing the majority of these so called supplements will do for you is empty your pockets faster than you can say the word ‘supplement’.
Do not say I did not warn you.
Which ones should you use? I am sorry but I am neither a doctor nor pharmacist.
The Ugly
I am sure you have heard of anabolic steroids. While not strictly supplements, I feel obliged to mention them here, because they are the best known of abused substances that fall into this group.
Whilst steroids are the most notorious of the group, there are several other performance enhancing ‘stuff’ that are passed under the guise of men’s health supplements. You will normally see them in body building magazines, and talked about in hardcore body building gyms.
Can I in the most polite and diplomatic manner say, “STAY AWAY”?
A word (in this case two) is enough for the wise.
I hope you are now aware that not all supplements are necessary or indeed good for you. Stick to the good ones, be wary of the bad ones and keep away from the ugly ones. Do this and you will be absolutely fine.
